happen
An intransitive verb is one that does not require a direct object (e.g., éternuer.).

a. se trouver (impersonal) (used with a subordinate clause)
A word or phrase that is not directed to a particular person or thing (e.g., on doit).
I was supposed to see Denis last night, but he happened to be sick.Je devais voir Denis hier soir, mais il se trouve qu'il était malade.
c. par hasard (adverb)
Did you happen to see Elena in town today?Tu n'aurais pas croisé Elena en ville aujourd'hui, par hasard ?
An impersonal verb is a verb with no apparent subject (e.g., Il pleut en avril.).

I had forgotten my umbrella, and it happened to be raining.J'avais oublié mon parapluie, et il se trouve qu'il pleuvait.
